They care about your health and want to offer high quality standards in our gastronomy, which is why at the end of 2019 a healthier new menu based on local products was introduced. This year they will continue to work on expanding our menu and offer even more culinary options.

To offer you an even more intimate experience with the Amazon Rainforest, in 2020 they will undergo changes to their infrastructure to create a more innovative and modern Safari style experience. They believe that their passengers deserve a more exclusive venue, therefore they will work to expand their facilities in order to enjoy an even more spectacular view from a larger suite.

Their Eco Story

Leading the ecotourism way in Ecuador. La Selva was the first lodge in the Ecuadorian Amazon with more than 30 years of experience and operation working in symbiosis with local communities and protecting the Amazon ecosystem, located in the buffer zone of the Yasuni National Park

Leading the ecotourism way in Ecuador
La Selva is constantly working to protect the pristine environment that surrounds the lodge. Their changes through 2020 will reinforce our focus on being more sustainable and preserving the overall wellbeing of the Amazon Rainforest.

Since 2002, they have worked to transform La Selva into a sustainable high-end Ecolodge. Using long-lasting and ecologically friendly materials for its foundations such as the combination of cultivated bamboo. The main structure of the observation tower and the lodge is constructed with high-strength steel that needs to be serviced the least compared to wood that rots quickly in the amazon due to the high humidity.

To protect the life of the Rainforest, the wood that is used is acquired from the city of Coca. Due to the geography of where this wood is located, it is highly resistant and durable, making the use of this material rationed and sustainable.

In 2020, theirr goal is to create an organic fruit and vegetable garden, which can be run by a local community and use these natural and organic materials in our selected cuisine

Waste water system

Their goal is to make theirr lodge a nearly fossil fuel free environment. They are working to reduce energy consumption in La Selva by changing old equipment, using LED energy and raising awareness among their staff and guests about the importance of saving energy. Also, they will eliminate and replace their large generators with smaller and newer models with more efficient battery life and usage, which will be charged when passengers are away from the lodge during activities.

In their attempts to leave a green footprint, they will soon begin installing solar panels to progressively eliminate the use of generators, eventually leading to a fossil fuel free environment.

They are reducing the impact of used water by using a filtration and cleaning system before it returns to the environment.

To save energy, they use a combination of fans and natural air that enters through open spaces to keep our guests cool.
